Community Education

Our lawyers and financial counsellors provide specialist community education on issues of importance to our community.

Some of our recent community education initiatives include:

  • A workshop for young African peer educators on preparing a personal budget, in partnership with the Youth 2 Youth program at the Brotherhood of St Laurence.
  • A seminar on buying a car for a Chin men’s group, in partnership with the New Hope Foundation in Footscray.
  • Regular “bring your bills” days at a Burmese women’s group run from the Westgate Baptist Community, where participants discuss matters such as energy consumption and claiming energy concessions.
  • Regular seminars providing an introduction to Australian law for recently arrived refugees from the Christmas Island detention facility, in partnership with AMES Settlement.
  • A seminar on renting in Australia, followed by an opportunity to obtain individual advice, run in partnership with Consumer Affairs Victoria and Werribee Support and Housing.

Please contact us on 9689 8444 if you would like a speaker for an event, or if you are interested in partnering with us on a community education project.
